ON THE WEB: AdCritic Mired in Clicking Scandal!

FROM CREATIVITY: The Design Issue

ON THE COVER: Design duo karlssonwilker.
Quirky design team karlssonwilker grace the cover of the October issue of Creativity, which contains our annual roundup of the hottest new names in design, including Friendswithyou, Chuck Anderson, Eneone, Buck, Universal Everything and Massive Industries. (Adcritic subscribers can read the special report online.) And if you happen to be wondering what's next for advertising creativity, you'll want to read what our Advertising Week panel -- which included Dave Droga, Scott Goodson, Ernest Lupinacci, Paul Lavoie and Ty Montague -- had to say about just that topic. (Subscribers can access it here.)

ALSO IN THE ISSUE: Results and highlights from Creativity's No Spot Short Film Festival; Crispin Porter + Bogusky's Geordie Stephens and JWT/Detroit's Tom Cordner rate new ads for Snickers, Perry Ellis, Tilex and Energizer; art buyers from BBDO, Saatchi & Saatchi, Fallon, TBWA/Chiat/Day, Ogilvy & Mather, Kirshenbaum Bond and BBH talk shop; and The Martin Agency races for the checkered flag. PLUS: A look at music houses Pulse Music and Metatechnick; a peek behind the scenes at the music of HP and the effects of Acura; and the word from photographer Sacha Waldman about Kohler's bold new print campaign. And, as always, we round up the latest and greatest advertising and design work from across the country and the world. Also, it's never been easier for Creativity and AdCritic subscribers to view work they read about in the magazine online. Just visit our monthly Creativity gallery, where we've grouped spots and other video clips to correspond with the sections of the magazine. BREAKING

BK "Ted Nugent"
In a star-studded campaign that breaks this week from Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Burger King urges voters to "have it their way" by voting on Nov. 2. Produced by HSI, the effort features appearances by P. Diddy, Michelle Branch, Good Charlotte and Eve -- all directed by Chris Robinson -- Snoop Dogg (directed by Paul Hunter) and Ted Nugent (directed by Randy Krallman).

The effort is also the first outing for STRBRST, a joint venture between HSI and Star Trak Entertainment -- the music label founded by The Neptunes. Star Trak principles Pharrell Williams and Rob Walker served as producers on the project and Williams created the soundtrack.

MOVERS

Scottish director Jackie Oudney, whose VW "Bollocks" spot for DDB/London earned her a passel of awards this year -- including a Silver Lion -- has signed with L.A. production company Trio Films for North American representation. In Europe, Oudney is represented by The Bare Film Company (formerly Bliss Films), which has agreed to represent Trio Films director Elliott Lester in Europe. ... Features editor Sylvie Landra -- who has edited such films as The Professional and The Fifth Element -- has signed with New York's Blue Rock Editing Company for commercials representation. ... Danny Jones, formerly of New York's Sideshow Creative, has joined London post house Rushes as a senior producer.

ON THE WEB

Editorial company Crew Cuts has issued a satirical tabloid -- both in print and on the web -- called New York Post House, which is filled with Onion-inspired items about the advertising biz. These include a startling story about Southeast Asian 'click shops,' where children are paid to view spots on AdCritic in order to influence the site's "Spot of the Day" selections. For the record, AdCritic's "Spot of the Day" is chosen by editorial fiat. The "AdCritic Top 20," on the other hand, is based on how many times a commercial is viewed, and -- given these revelations -- may very well be influenced by abhorrent overseas operations like the one pictured here. Shocking!
