DirecTV: Like Heaven on Earth?

DirecTV "Vase"
In the first round of DirecTV work from Eric Silver's unit at BBDO/N.Y., we learned that the NFL Sunday Ticket package is so good, football fans think they're dreaming. Now, with a new round of spots from MJZ director Craig Gillespie, we find out that the NBA League Pass is even better. It's like heaven.

How do we know? Well, in each of three spots, we see basketball fans who meet with untimely deaths, leave their bodies and get to heaven, where -- sure enough -- they've got DirecTV.

The Viral Awards Take Manhattan

The U.K.-based Viral Awards -- which are making their debut this year -- are coming to the U.S. In addition to presenting the winning buzz marketing campaigns on Jan. 13 in London, the show's organizers will also showcase the winners in the U.S. on Feb. 15 via a partnership with New York edit house The Now Corporation, whose president -- Owen Plotkin -- has been named chairman of the Viral Awards' North American jury.

The jury -- which includes such names as director Brian Beletic, Taxi's Paul Lavoie, DDB executive producer Greg Popp and Goodby team Fred & Farid, as well as the editors of AdCritic and Creativity -- will join their U.K. counterparts in presenting global awards in categories such as "Creative Use of Media," "Word of Mouth" and "Most Successful Viral TV Ad." The North American jury will also present a special award for "Most Infectious North American Viral."

The location of the New York showcase -- which will benefit New York's Food Bank -- has yet to be determined, but the Nov. 25 entry deadline is fast approaching. For more info, visit www.theviralawards.com, or download an entry form here.
